These popular courses are held in the well appointed village hall in Assington, a small village in Suffolk off the A134 between Sudbury and Colchester. They are from 10.00am - 4.00pm on both days.
All levels and abilities are welcome. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced artist, you are sure to find a workshop that suits your needs.
Places can be secured with a non-refundable deposit of £10, with the balance due no less than one month before the start of the course. Cancellation of booking - no refund any later than 2 weeks before the beginning of the course unless an alternative candidate can be found by the student, or due to illness. Hot/cold drinks and biscuits will be available throughout the day. For lunch, students can either bring their own, visit Assington Farm Shop, or there is a very reasonable restaurant at the Barn, both of which are very conveniently just a few minutes walk down the road.

Have fun with textures, collage and utilitisng the versitility of frottaging techniques. Inspiration can be taken from different sources using good bold shapes from a still life or alternatively, students can work from a sketch or a painting that they have been working on. Be prepared to work in large as well as smaller formats. Explore positive and negative shapes with a dynamic approach using collage, mixed media and cutting, dividing and re-arranging your work and take your life drawings just a bit further. A great opportunity to make the most of the seasons and sketch and paint outside. In this idyllic and tranquil setting, there is a wealth of subject matter to paint and draw including trees, water and reflections, plant life, trees, buildings and the mill interior. Initial quick, simple sketches will be made to familiarise yourself the the surroundings. These sketches will help form the basis of your paintings. You can paint in any medium of your choice. Suitable for all abilities.
If it rains, Plan B is to paint from inside the mill looking out. Alternatively, there are plenty of really interesting interiors and original artefacts to draw within the mill.

In 2009, Karenza took part in Artstart, an Early Years Training Programme run jointly by Essex County Council and The Mercury Theatre in Colchester with nursery and reception year children.
